Atoll features a huge rock that stands upright on the bottom, rising from 33m to 20m. One side features an impressive overhang while the deep side contains numerous small crevices. The entire formation is covered in soft coral, fans, and sponges, creating a colorful underwater landscape teeming with fascinating marine life.
To fully explore the overhang area, you'll need a good dive light due to the depth. This area is particularly rich in marine life with numerous hiding places for various creatures.
The site is home to various marine life including:
The rock face is spotted with Moray Eels and surrounded by clouds of small reef fish. In the overhang area, you're likely to spot Frogfish, Flatworms, Nudibranchs, and Lionfish, particularly when using your dive light to illuminate darker areas.
The area around the rock provides an excellent opportunity for underwater photography, especially when photographing against the blue water background.
Dive Planning Tip: This dive is best done on enriched air nitrox. With careful planning, you can extend the dive by swimming towards Shark Cave or Kilima Steps where the depth becomes shallower. The dive should be done during flood tide when there is less current in the area.
